A TPMS warning light after tire rotation, seasonal swap, or new sensors usually means the vehicle needs a relearn procedure — not just clearing codes. Many OEMs require a specific OBD2-triggered relearn or drive cycle that a basic code reader cannot perform.
Tools with TPMS Support
These TOPDON scanners include TPMS reset/relearn on supported vehicles:
- AD500
- AD600S
- AD800BT 2
- ArtiDiag600 Pro
- Phoenix series and TopScan Lite (model-dependent)
Procedure Tips
TPMS relearn methods vary by make: OBD2-triggered relearn, stationary magnet procedure, or drive cycle at specified speed. Follow the on-screen prompts on your TOPDON tool and the vehicle service manual. Replace sensors with correct frequency (315 vs 433 MHz) before attempting relearn.
When a Dedicated TPMS Tool Is Needed
OBD2 scanner TPMS functions reset the vehicle module after sensor IDs are programmed. If you install new sensors, you may also need a TPMS programming tool to write sensor IDs — the scanner completes the relearn afterward.
